Maketeq provides industrial machining services for four core industries: industrial machinery, automation and robotics, automotive and transport, and oil, gas and process. We make CNC machined and sheet metal parts to your drawing, in metals, plastics and other materials, with QC inspection, mill certificates and ISO 9001 documentation on every order. These four are highlights, not the full list.

Which processes does each industry need?

Each industry buys a different mix of machined and sheet metal parts. This is how a typical part list splits:

Industry Typical parts Processes
Industrial machinery Frames, housings, shafts, plates, brackets, guards CNC milling, CNC turning, sheet metal
Automation and robotics Adapter plates, gripper fingers, sensor mounts, guarding Milling (often 5-axis), sheet metal
Automotive and transport Fixtures, check fixtures, brackets, machined components Milling, turning
Oil, gas and process Custom flanges, manifolds, fittings, valve parts Milling, turning

Machine guards are a good example of a mixed part: they’re commonly built from structural frames with solid, perforated or expanded sheet metal infill (OSHA). The frame is machined and the infill is laser cut and bent, on the same order.

Which process?

Machined, sheet metal, or both?

The part decides the process, whatever the industry. You don't have to choose: send the drawings and each part is routed to suit.

  • A CMM inspection report or first article inspection report
  • The flange, guard or fitting standard the part must meet

Which metals suit each industry?

The metal follows what the part has to survive. We quote by alloy series and confirm the exact grade in your quote:

Industry Common metals Common finishes
Industrial machinery Mild steel for frames and guards, aluminum for plates and housings, tool steel for wear parts Powder coating, painting, zinc plating
Automation and robotics Aluminum for low moving mass, stainless steel for washdown cells Anodizing Type II and Type III
Automotive and transport Aluminum and mild steel for fixtures and brackets, tool steel for locators Plating, anodizing, as-machined
Oil, gas and process Stainless steel for corrosion resistance, brass for fittings Passivation, as-machined

All seven metal families and their series are on our CNC machining materials page.

Which standards do buyers in each industry ask about?

We make the part to your drawing; the standard the finished product must meet stays with you. Put these on the drawing or the order when they apply:

Industry Standards buyers name What to tell us
Industrial machinery ISO 14120 for guards; in the EU, the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, which applies from 20 January 2027 (EU-OSHA) The guard and frame drawings; the machine builder keeps responsibility for the machine’s compliance
Automation and robotics ISO 9409-1 for the robot tool flange The flange designation or full bolt pattern
Automotive and transport IATF 16949 for road-vehicle production parts (IATF); PPAP from AIAG The PPAP level and customer requirements. We’re ISO 9001 certified, not IATF 16949 certified
Oil, gas and process NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour service; EN 10204 certificate types Sour service, the certificate type, and any flange or fitting standard

The ISO standards come from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). We don’t supply API monogrammed equipment, which only API licensees can mark (API).

Don’t see your industry?

These four industries are highlights. If you buy metal parts to a drawing, we can quote them. Parts for any industry follow the same route: an engineering review of the drawing, a sample before production, and inspection against your drawing. Send the drawing, tell us what the part does and which standards it must meet, and an engineer replies within 6 hours.

Right first time

Where industry parts go wrong, and how we prevent it

Most rejects trace back to a requirement that wasn't on the drawing or the order. These are the ones we ask about before anything is cut.

  • Robot adapter plate doesn't fit the flange

Why:The bolt pattern came from a sketch, not the flange designation.

We ask for the ISO 9409-1 designation or the full pattern, and check the bores and holes against it.

  • Part held at the customer's PPAP

Why:The PPAP level and customer requirements weren't stated with the order.

We ask for them with the quote, and the quote confirms what we can supply.

  • Material rejected for sour service

Why:H2S service wasn't stated, so the material wasn't selected for it.

State sour service on the drawing. We confirm the material route before quoting, or say if we can't supply it.

  • Certificate doesn't match the specification

Why:The order asked for a mill cert; the specification called for EN 10204 3.1.

We ask which certificate type you need. A 3.1 material test certificate is available on request.

  • Guard panels don't line up with the frame

Why:Machined frame and sheet metal guards came from two suppliers working to different datums.

Machining and sheet metal from one supplier, so both are made to the same drawings on one order.

Questions buyers ask about industrial machining services

Do you hold industry-specific certifications?

We’re ISO 9001 certified. We don’t hold IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 13485 or API certifications. Tell us the standards your part must meet, and the quote confirms what we can supply.

Can you supply parts with a PPAP submission?

Tell us the PPAP level and your customer’s requirements when you ask for the quote. IATF 16949 certification applies to sites making production and service parts for road vehicles, and we hold ISO 9001, so the quote states exactly which elements we can supply for your part.

Can you make parts for sour service?

Only if the material suits it. NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 governs the metals used in hydrogen sulfide (H2S) environments. State sour service on the drawing, and we confirm the material route before quoting or tell you if it’s outside our materials list.

Which material certificate comes with my parts?

A mill certificate comes with every order. If your specification calls for an EN 10204 type 3.1 certificate, say so with the drawing: a 3.1 material test certificate is available on request.

Can you machine an adapter plate to a robot flange?

Yes. Give the ISO 9409-1 flange designation, or the full bolt circle, hole sizes and locating bore on the drawing. The plate is milled to that pattern, and the bores and holes are checked against your drawing before it ships.

Can you make the machined and sheet metal parts for one machine?

Yes. Machining and sheet metal come from one supplier, so frames, brackets, guards and machined parts can be made on one order.

Which metals do you machine?

Aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, tool steel, titanium, brass and copper. We also work in plastics and other materials on request.

Do you send a sample before production?

Yes. A sample part is made and sent to you for reference before production starts.

What do I receive before the parts arrive?

Photos of your parts, the QC reports and proof of dispatch reach you before the parts do. Mill certificates and ISO 9001 documentation come with every order.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. You can order one part or a production batch.
